The tendencies of telecom development in the new European Union member states in the context of globalization

Abstract

The article analyses the telecoms in the European Union countries. The research has two stages: in the first stage the development of telecommunication sectors in various countries has been analyzed. The second stage of the research embraces the transformation of the EU telecoms in terms of a privatization model applied; consistent patterns of telecoms development are being traced. The authors of the article generalize characteristic features of foreign telecoms development and distinguish phases of globalization. On is basis the forecast of telecoms privatization and development peculiarities in the new EU countries have been performed.

Naujų Europos Sąjungos šalių narių telekomų plėtros tendencijos globalizacijos kontekste

Santrauka. Straipsnyje analizuojamos ES senbuvių šalių ir naujai įstojusių šalių fiksuoto ryšio telekomunikacijų kompanijos. Tyrimas atliekamas dviem etapais: pirmuoju analizuojamas telekomunikacijų kaip sektoriaus plėtotė atskirose pasaulio šalyse. Antruoju nagrinėjamos senųjų ir naujai įstojusių ES šalių fiksuoto ryšio telekomunikacinių kompanijų transformacijos dėl skirtingų privatizavimo strategijų, ieškoma telekomų plėtros dėsningumų. Apibendrindamos užsienio fiksuoto ryšio sektoriaus raidos bei globalizavimosi ypatybes autorės prognozuoja naujų Europos Sąjungos šalių, taip pat ir Lietuvos telekomo, privatizavimo bei funkcionavimo specifinius bruožus.
